So, What’s with your name? What does Innovo mean?
Innovo is Latin and it is translated as:
- to make and innovation in,
- renew, restore,
- return to a thing.
We believe that God is an infinitely creative God that is always seeking to renew and restore us using His creativity. We are open to the innovations that God brings to the counseling process. We have seen His creative efforts renew and restore as our clients return to face those things in their past that are preventing us from being all that He wants us to be in the present.
Do you take insurance?
Are our discussions private?
Since all of our counselors are licensed Ministers/Pastors, everything that is discussed falls under the penitent/clergy tradition of confidentiality. We will only disclose general information if required by state law in cases of public safety, or if you are a threat to yourself, or if you disclose the abuse or the potential abuse or neglect of a child, a disabled person or an elderly person.
What is Christian counseling?
However, we understand that sometimes life doesn’t work out the way we want. If you are struggling with life we will not judge you or your behaviors. Although our Christianity informs every area of our lives we will not beat you over the head with the bible. God doesn’t force himself on anyone so, we won’t not force Him on anyone either.
What can I expect for my first visit?
Included in the packet is an Intake form that you need to complete in its entirety before your appointment. The day of your appointment you are given two short screening tests that will cost an additional $35 to process, which only covers my cost. We don’t make a money off of testing you. You will spend the majority of the time answering background questions and getting comfortable talking to with your counselor.
How long does therapy last?
We weigh many other factors surrounding your state of mind and how you are engaging in your daily life through your relationships and whether or not we have sufficiently met your counseling goals before we will make a recommendation to end your therapy.
Do I have to lie on a couch?
In fact you can stand on your head in the corner if it makes you feel better, or you can lie in on the floor if you prefer a firmer surface. But if you are wondering if you have to lie on my couch, as in, tell me something that isn’t true then the answer is no. We don’t require that you to lie on a couch. The truth works much better.
